The Ripsaw Hiatus

When I was about seven years old, I was at a Girl Scouts meeting that I didn't even want to go to. We were doing an exercise to demonstrate memory, politeness, and people skills by each taking turns being a "waitress" taking the other girls' orders and then serving them plastic food specific to their demands. I messed up everybody's order and all the girls got mad at me and laughed as they pelted me with plastic food. Even my mom laughed at me. And if I had to describe my life now, I'd say that day at Girl Scouts would be foreshadowing how I was going to feel everyday afterwards for the next 14 years... So, yeah. Hey, where are you going?! Come back!

After sticking our hands in Lake Superior last night and deeming it “not too bad”, Zach and I began planning to do what we did two June’s ago: gather all of our bravest friends for a chilly mid-Spring skinny dip.
Those who should turn down the challenge will be ridiculed as “pussies” and will be told to wait in the car with the heater on full blast, readying the car so the Champions of the Lake will have a warm retreat waiting for them as a reward for their victories.

Sitting out on the beach today with a cup of coffee and the wonderful 70 degree weather was just delightful, and exactly what I needed to readjust to a better mood. And now they’re talking about getting snow this week… Why do you have to play me like that, Duluth? Just make up your mind already.
