The Ripsaw Hiatus

When I was about seven years old I was at a Girl Scouts meeting that I didn't even want to go to. We were doing an exercise to demonstrate memory, politeness, and people skills by each taking turns being a "waitress" taking the other girls' orders and then serving them plastic food specific to their demands. I messed up everybody's order and all the girls got mad at me and laughed as they pelted me with plastic food. Even my mom laughed at me. And if I had to describe my life now, I'd say that day at Girl Scouts would be foreshadowing how I was going to feel everyday afterwards for the next 15 years... So, yeah. Hey, where are you going?! Come back!

If I had drink for every time The Mountain Goat’s “No Children” felt relevant in my life, well I’d be super fucking trashed like I am now.

I can’t even handle this. This wins the award for Best Use of a Mountain Goats Song.

Like A Pair Of Bottle Rockets Mixtape #1
Mountain Goats Indoctrination Mix
If you are sentient, and read my blog, you may have noticed that the Mountain Goats are my favorite band. As such, I believe it is my duty to lure as many innocent souls into their cultish fanbase as I can. I made this mix this upon request of my boss/friend Russ, and though it’s skewed towards songs he’d particularly be attracted to, I think it’s a decent primer for anyone who has not yet accepted John Darnielle as their lord and savior. I was limited to ten tracks, so I had to kill a few of my children (metaphorically!) to keep it at the right length. I hope some of you enjoy it, and this mix heralds the start of a long and beautiful career of blog mixtapes. HAIL SATAN.
Tracklist:
1. This Year (The Sunset Tree)
2. Color In Your Cheeks (All Hail West Texas)
3. Palmcorder Yajna (We Shall All Be Healed)
4. Broom People (The Sunset Tree)
5. Minnesota (Full Force Galesburg)
6. No Children (Tallahassee)
7. Home Again Garden Grove (We Shall All Be Healed)
8. Old College Try (Tallahassee)
9. Dilaudid (The Sunset Tree)
10. The Best Ever Death Metal Band In Denton (All Hail West Texas)
